Upon an initiative taken by the current president, Giovanni Bergozza,, Industrie Meccaniche OFB was born in 1965. This new company began production with a felt pads and roller type padding table and a piston pigment pump for spraying and padding machines. At the beginning of the 1970's the production of the first Italian 3000mm wide throughfeed rotary embossing and ironing press for upholstery leather commenced. Seeing how well the market developed and combined with the strong demand for machinery, Industrie Meccaniche Bergi was established in 1974, immediately beginning the manufacture of buffing machines and felt roller polishing machines. In 1980 the merger between OFB and Bergi took place resulting in the transformation to a single company; Industrie Meccaniche Bergi OFB spa.

Progressive expansion brought about a decision to broaden production into different types of machines, exploiting the level of technical know-how reached in twenty years of activity serving the same client base.

In 1996 Bergi OFB created the commercial BERTEX brand. The confidence and the seriousness built up by Bergi OFB resulted in continuous requests for buffing lines and throughfeed presses from the textile and synthetic leather industries. The new Bertex division in a very short time succeeded in becoming established and being ever more appreciated for its own products in this new market.

In the year 2000 the Bergozza family acquired Costruzioni Meccaniche PIZZOLATO Massimiliano srl, a company established in 1945 by the eponymous constructor. Pizzolato specialised in the construction of special machines for the conversion of paper from roll. The high level of recognition of this company over a period of fifty years, coupled with the enthusiasm of the new staff introduced by Bergi, has already brought about higher results after the first year of the new acquisition's activity.

In line with the need for co-ordination and control, the majority of internal functions of the various companies is managed centrally. To facilitate contact with the individual companies the BERGI GROUP has been set up, not in itself as a company, but as an instrument of service. Via the Bergi Group a partnership network between clients and the various companies has been created. A number of central functions such as sales and marketing are already active and other areas of service are to be developed over time.
